TRADITIONAL IRISH PUB - CASTLETOWNBERE, BEARA PENINSULA, WEST CORK, IRELAND
Romantic drama 'Ondine', directed by Neil Jordan, and starring Colin Farrell and Alicja Bachleda, was filmed in and around Castletownbere in 2008 and released in 2009.
MacCarthy's Bar features in one scene with Farrell and Dervla Kirwan (pictured below right) playing Maura, the alcoholic and bitter ex-girlfriend of Farrell's character Syracuse.
Dervla won the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Film at the 2010 Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTAs) for the role.
